Hello everyone!
Today i will be talking about a situation which i collaborated intensely and at length with anothe person, so here it is!
Every year, the students of Hwa Chong Instituition (HCI) are required to do projects on different categories, such as inventions, resource development etc, and after that, we will present our project to teacher judges on a specific and particular day, known as projects day to many.
Projects day consists of 3 rounds-Preliminary Round, Semi Finals, Finals. Each round has a percentage of points, which will be counted in a scholsatic subject, known as independent studies. The round that has the heaviest percentage weight is the Semi Finals round, which weighs 30%, but unfortunately, my group did not go through it.
While preparing for projects day, I had to work really closely together with my group mates and project mentor, for about half the year. Even though there are some hiccups like technical faults and difficulties, lack of ideas, and some miscommunication, my group were able to work together well and happily. However, sometimes we will procrastinate a little, distracted by computer games, social networks, television programmes and other entertaining means, but despite this distractions,we were still able to finish our work far before the deadline, as we met up really frequently.
We passed the preminary rounds really easily, as the judges found our project has potential, and thought that we can excel in it. However, as we approached semi finals, we realised that our product is not feasible, and is impossible to make an enlargeable umbrella without the help of external factories. However, the factories we approached are unwilling to help, and thus,we had to no choice, but to make a really lousy prototype for semi finals. Without a good prototype that works perfectly and consistently, we are bound to be out of the project day competition.
Despite the fact that we failed to pass semi finals, i learnt a lot about myself, and my project group members as well. I learnt that i can work well together with others, and is able to compile our ideas together really well. I also found out that i am easily distracted, and thus i must definitely work on that as well. I also found out that my groupmates are really talented, for example, one of my groupmate, is fantastic in infocom studies, and he designed our powerpoint slides background, and also created our website. My group is also really good in voicing out good and effective opinions, and not only that, we are also able to collaborate all our ideas together well, and that is a major factor that allowed us to pass the preminary rounds so easily!
